This helps to minimize the severity of cleft in new born babies and improving feeding there by enhancing child development.
-
Palatal expansion Plate
Between the age of 4 – 8 because of palatal scarring palate shrunkens, so to expand and maintain the palate in proper shape and position this is very important which also prevents maxilla to go back to some extent
-
Head Gear and Myofunctional appliances
These are the devises used during the pre-adolescent age to adult life to maintain maxillo-mandibular relation properly , upper jaw front and lower jaw back.
-
Dental Services
Generally the care of dental health is poor in cleft children. Presence of teeth makes the maxilla strong and there won’t be loss of alveolar bone. It is very much mandatory that your final outcome of osteotomies are strongly influenced by occlusion (presence of teeth in proper position and health)
So it is wise to start the dental treatment as early from 2- 3 years of age , to prevent future larger degree of deformity which will be difficult to correct. -
